The Training Delivery Manager manages EPAfrica’s annual programme of training events. You will be an active member of the Recruitment and Training Committee, and the role involves nurturing and managing a team of volunteers and associates to deliver highly engaging training sessions in the UK and East Africa. This team will update the PW and Summer Team training packs, coordinate the update of training slides for university-based sessions, and prepare the in-country Training Week sessions and mid-summer workshops.

You will be a champion of training best practice, working with the with the Training Design Manager to deliver ‘Train the Trainer’ – where your focus is to grow the pool of people within EPAfrica with the skills to organise and deliver engaging training events, present effectively, facilitate groups and run insightful and memorable activities.

Over the course of the year, every individual who volunteers with EPAfrica, including PWs, PRs, the Summer Team, PMs and most of the central charity will attend one of your events! It is a vital role in the charity, which is crucial in shaping the experience our volunteers have in East Africa and the impact they have in our partner schools. Working in the Recruitment and Training Committee as the Training Design Manager will give you fantastic oversight of how the charity functions, the opportunity to meet almost everyone in the organisation and gain personal skills in running training sessions and talking to large groups – highly transferable to any future career. Your energy and corny icebreakers will be key to encouraging high retention from PW to central charity and within the central charity itself!

Core responsibilities

You will ensure that training events run smoothly managing your team to:

  • organise venues
  • recruit and brief facilitator and provide facilitators’ resources
  • invite volunteers and track attendance
  • issue pre-reading, training packs and slides
  • ensure that sessions run to time
  • organise fun socials after central training

And you will:

  • Attend Recruitment and Training Committee meetings, and create and manage opportunities for the committee’s associates to get involved in delivering training
  • Nurture and inspire a team of officers, mentors and associates who are deployed to deliver exciting and effective sessions
  • Upskill University Societies and Summer Team members with the skills to delivery high-quality training sessions
